To all of Corey's Supporters:
I
was just officially informed that Corey's petition for clemency was
denied in its entirety. I have learned that this decision was forwarded
to Fort Leavenworth on Friday, the day after the hearing, rather than
the normal two weeks time period. No reason for denial has been given
thus fa...r.
I
say that this is not the end of the fight, but rather the beginning. I
am already preparing for the next steps and, despite this setback, I
remain hopeful that eventually justice will prevail. It must.
We
are grateful for all the support you have given us throughout this
process. Now, Corey and his family need you more than ever. If you can,
please take a moment to write Corey a letter and let him know that he
is not forgotten. He will soon celebrate his fifth birthday behind bars.
This is just the beginning of the struggle, and one that I refuse to abandon.

I
filed a Freedom of Information Act request this morning and hope to
have a full answer within the next few weeks as to the board's
reasoning.

Thank you for the tremendous outpouring of support for Corey and outrage at this recent decision. I have received many personal messages from you and I appreciate all of your words.
When I was a brand new Ensign on board USS NORMANDY, my chief taught me a very valuable lesson - whenever you report a problem, be prepared to offer a solution. It is in that spirit that I am writing to you today to inform you that we have already put into motion numerous potential solutions. I have filed FOIA requests for documents and am prepared to continue the attack on multiple grounds:
1. I am preparing to appeal the current Board's decision up the chain-of-command. I believe that once I receive a copy of the record, there may be grounds for them to reconsider.
2. Corey is entitled to a new Clemency Hearing within the next year. I believe that we can improve our petition by greatly increasing public support. With your help, we can bring the Facebook group from 2,500 members to 25,000 members or more (the group protesting the prosecution of the Navy Seals has over 276,000). We also need to get Senators and Congressmen on board (obviously, in some cases this may need to wait until after November so we know who is going to be in office).
3. I am researching possible avenues to bring this matter before the Federal District Court. I will come back to you with more specific plans once they have been crystallized.
Until that time, please help to spread the word, as a large public support will be integral to all future proceedings. This decision is a setback, but it is not the end and we intend to continue this fight until he comes home.
